Photographer’s Note
.
Even though I am a Vietnamese from a central province, I have never seen this activity before. It looks like a litle boat to me. When I approached the man for the question, he laughed, "No, this is not a boat. It's a trap that I use to fish in the canals around rice paddies."
It's a shame for such stupidity. The longer I live, the less I knew about life.

Don't feel bad because you didn't know about this fishing device. Without your admitting note, I'd say this is a small boat too.
It's great that you got the answer to share, and I don't have to expose my... stupidity.

Ha Ha, I am not the only one who suffers from this trait. You're quite right the older you get the less you know!
The great thing about that though is you have more to learn so there is a silver lining to every cloud.
The photo could have done with his face showing to make it more interesting but your note is just excellant

My face turned red as I read your note: I thought it is a boat, too!
Well, thanks for sharing... the mistake ;)

Hi Thanh,
I could say "I'm in the same 'boat'" :)))
Please forgive my silly joke but I just remembered this expression/ idiom and I thought this play on words/its meaning fits here.
Of course I would take this for a boat, too. Thank you for the information in your note.
