Midwinter on Cat Ba Island, in Halong Bay, north Vietnam. This beach has an entry fee of 7000 dong, (about 50 cents US). There are 5 buoys at the mid tide mark on the beach. I had a beer or 2 at the single hut to the left. There is a walkway along the hill, & a rotunda on the point.

I love this one Chris, mainly for the graceful sweeping curves of the cliff and the shoreline. The islands and the buoys balance the composition very well. The limited range of colours make for a lovely calm shot too - well done.

Looks like a nice place to have a beer or two!
Good perspective along the curved shape of the beach,I like the contrast between the deep green forest and the bright hazy background.

Very nicely composed. The huge expanse of beach dominates the frame ad the forest and islands make for a good background. The lighting is excellent, with the slight haze giving a real sense of depth. The small tower at lower right is perfectly placed to balance the shot. Well done!

Nice composition. I like this mystic scenary with the fog sea. Good contrast of colors and reflections. God light and textures.

Tes photos sont toujours aussi belles, aussi exotiques et colorées. C'est très bon de donner une grande part à cette large plage. Les îles se perdent dans la brume.
Bien vu !

As I comment on Wes', remarkably empty beach for mid summer, especially at a place obviously geared up to cope lots of swimmers. Good PoV and nice receding tones.

The colors are very fine. Good work.

Hi John. What a nice tropical feel this one has. The image quality is really good. I guess it was really bright on the right side. That's the only bummer of the shot. Well done Chris. PS I'm going on a business trip next week to St. Louis and won't be around. Hopefully I can get some shots after work each day.

Chris what you have posted is one of my dream places to visit some time. I love the soft sand, and the distant rocks protruding out of the water. Is there a name for them? They are gorgous!

A well composed shot with soft, warm colours and great ambience. I love the colour and texture of the sandy beach and how it meets the tropical coloured seawater. The mood is one of great tranquillity and peace. The little buoys help balance and enhance. Great capture. I love the mood here.

Hi Chirs, A beautiful view of the clean smooth sandy beach. I enjoy the view of the multiple islands in different distance in this shot. Good composition and nice capture.

I didn't go to Cat Ba during my travel, I discover the island thanks to your picture, It looks wild and beautiful, this place is so empty.

Hi Chris - lovely deserted beach, I like the golden sand and the offshore rocks. I was there exacly one year ago this week, but had my beer(s) at the other beach beyond the walkway, which seemed quite sturdy other than a gap or two wide enough for a vietnamese waistline to slip through.
avigur_11 (22069) 2005-10-30 14:55
What a pleast and tranquil place. The mirror water looks like a perfect part of the sandy beach, in the same level. I also like the fact that there is no horizon, and the sky merges somehwere perfectly with the sea. Beautiful one, Chris.
