Situated in the North-East region of Vietnam, Halong Bay is a bay in the Gulf of Tonkin.
Halong Bay is made up of 1,969 islands of various sizes, 989 of which have been given names. There are two kinds of islands, limestone and schist, which are concentrated in two main zones: the southeast (belonging to Bai Tu Long Bay), and the southwest (belonging to Halong Bay). This densely concentrated zone of stone islands, world famous for its spectacular scenery of grottoes and caves, forms the central zone of Halong Bay, which has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

like this. traditional boats with wing sails. nice light, maybe more due to the natural cloud cover.
thanks, for sharing

I was in Hanoi last June but decided to go South to Phat Diem Cathedral instead of heading East to the ocean.
As a result, I have never been in Ha Long yet (a shame!). So I have 2 favorite photos of this destination. First one is a dry picture taken by my buddy Cuong Tran. Today I found this wet one of yours my second, which I noticed you took during the light rain or morning fog.
Thanks for sharing.

Très belle composition dynamique!
La pluie donne plus de dimension à la scène!L'ajout du filtre chaud est une bonne manipulation!Ca donne un côté magique à la scène!
Beau Travail Oscar!

this is wonderful oscar!
even though it may not have as much of the amazing landscape as most halong bay photos this is absolutely my favorite! the sky with a pinkish hue, the blurry raindrops, the contours of the mountains, jut gorgeous! the ship with the lonely captain aboard (even with the plastic raincoat) the smaller boat tied behind and the silhouette of the anchor all just perfect! hoping to visit next spring myself. congratulations! goes directly to my favorites!

This is really a nice picture, Oscar! Very different from the "usual" views of the Halong Bay, the raindrops and the pink color gives a very special atmosphere and of course the boat is very nice (and of great interest to me). I like the blue raincoat on the sailor, the only element that isn't red or brown.

Very good time of a day to take this lovely photo. Every time I see shot from this area I ask myself if there is only one boat like this standing at about same place so people can take this typical shot or are ther more of them :) L.

Perfect shot, colors are very 'romantic';-), it's to rare to see this kind of boat at Halong Bay.
It's a very beautiful place.

I like the tone of the pic :)
Btw this pic should be put under "Quang Ninh" folder because Ha Long is a city of Quang Ninh province.
