The usual photos of halong bay show blue skies and a calm sea. I was lucky to be there on a day when it didn't stop raining! But I managed to get this shot - only spoiled by a raindrop on the lens.

Hi Brian,
Good POV with a great DOf and also interesting with this original atmosphere.

Very poetic, very attractive.
The beauty you captured is so temptative and inviting.
Thanks. I will be there — promised!

This is an almost perfect idea for a compo. I love the feel of this place and its look. I say almost perfect because I would love to see a person fill this frame somewhere. Ideally at the end of the pier, back turned, facing to the water.

Some would back away from getting out their camera in the rain but this shot proves the worth of the risk of damage. The overall blue/purple light give the image a coolness that enhances the rainy day. Great shot.

Great shot with an unusual feeling! Wonderful! I think this could work even better if the fences had started already outside the photo.. In this particular case it could have been achieved by taking couple of steps forward (and/or by using longer focal length...).
But this is fine!

there are surprisingly many poor photos of Halong Bay on TE, so you have done well to produce such a good image despite adverse conditions - it deserves more points than it has been given.
