Wow - she looks very pained. I think she has the "sad, mysterious quality" that you mention.
I like the picture and the general compostion, but.
1) Sad to crop her right hand out as it is doing so much work!
2) The flash has killed the flesh tones.
#2 is probably unfair as it must have been dark, but the flash has been caught in her eyes, which kills the mood a bit.
That aside (and even depite these points), this is a great portrait.
awesome emily! great capture. very well composed (the few pixels cut off from the right hand don't bother me at all), the misty mountains, the boats in the bg and of course the posture of the rower.. perfect. wow! a couple of hours. i'm planning to visit this spring. i love to contribute to the local economy, but i'm not sure how i'd feel about someone using their physical strength to transport me around (whether male or female) please don't misunderstand me, i don't mean to pass judgement on you or anyone, i'm just curious how you felt about the whole experience.
cheers,
mark
this is really nice, very dynamic scene, good use of flash, great colors. the only small flaw is this cropped hand. good stuff
great shot,,, sometimes we forget how others.live and get thru day 2 day..thanks for sharing..alexanderargyll :)
oh, great shot, very dynamic. love her expression, the way she fills the frame, the colours. i am sorry that the flash ruined the nice flesh tones -- god how i hate flashes -- but i think you did good.
Gee, did I met this same woman in April. Well, I was in Vietnam 3 weeks. My heart was left behind..How did you feel?
