Photographer's Note

This mosaic mural came from an idea by Nguyen Thu Thuy, a journalist and painter who works for the Hanoimoi newspaper. It was created from 2007 to 2010 for the celebration of Thang Long Hanoi millennium anniversary. 15 foreign artists and 500 children from across the country and around the world plus 100 craftsmen from traditional ceramic village, including Phu Lang and Bat trang, Chau Dau and Binh Duong were involved. It runs for nearly 6 km along the Red River Dyke, and features images of Vietnam's history, countryside and traditional craft villages.
Volonteers, mostly young people, maintain the mosaic and clean it daily.
The Hanoians are proud about it and foreigners should walk along and watch the beautiful work done.
