I took this picture on my motorcycle trip of north-west Vietnam. He was one of many friendly H'mong people of the house on top of this high mountain. The entire family was friendly and invited me to their home for a drink and a little chat in "International Sign Language" :). I'm in their backyard taking this photo. Though non of us could communicate with spoken words, we had a great time for about an hour. They did not want me to leave. I was probably the first foreigner they ever came to contact with because of their geographical location.

About H'mong people:
Here is a good link which can do a much better job than I can.

PP: sharpened and framed only

Cheers,
Skye

Wow! Really interesting picture! The thumbnail look like a painting. And the picture also. The framing add a deep to it. It almost look unrealistic. Really well done!

Thank for sharing!

Like it, the guy seems funny, proud, interesting, cute and friendly all at the same time, his attire does help. Like the background and how you composed the photo, colurs are good, I only regret some of the clouds are blown out, perhaps underexposing the shot and then trying to recover the shadows in postprocessing could have been an option.

Great photo, thank you for sharing this with us, it was intersting reading your notes,They have a nice view from there backyard. Well done.

Good fun man !

Hi Skye,
great picture. I like this proud man. It's nice how you've used a flash to have it visible against the light. It's nice the diagonal where he's standing and a wooden pale seems like it's framing the background.
