Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The bay is a large area (approx. 1,500 sq. km) with thousands of limestone formations and islands. Ha Long means 'Descending Dragon'. It is very beautiful but there are very many junks sailing its waters. We stayed for one night on a very nice luxury junk and visited one of the islands that has a very small beach. There was a small floating market and this photo shows a woman with various types of fish. In the WS I show a view from the top of one of the islands.
Currently in Saigon and off to the Mekong Delta tomorrow.

A very good and very colourful capture. She is keeping her wares fresh and alive with these equipments along her boat. There are many other interesting details to enjoy here.

I am sure I have commented before that I love travel in Vietnam- it is so rich in photo opportunities and you have captured a great study here. I do wonder what they do with those starfish? Anyway, lovely use of the diagonal placement of the boat in your composition and you have managed the bright sunlight and shade with skill
Thanks for sharing, travel safe and keep happy snapping

What a lovely trio of photographs you have presented here! It sounds as though you are having a wonderful holiday and that your accommodation on that luxury junk greatly surpassed that in the sleeper compartment of the train last week!
Your main photograph is beautiful, a well captured view of the fishmonger in her boat surrounded by her wares ready for sale and no doubt they are as fresh as could be. The lighting here is lovely and we can see lots of details (apart from the lady's face, of course!) in the shade. The colours are excellent, the exposure perfect and the details and sharpness exquisite. And a fine close composition too.
As to your workshop photographs, the view across Halong Bay is classic with fine composition, good framing from the overhanging branches, lovely warm light on the boats and the foreground bushes and, again, excellent sharpness.
And, of course, your own personal floating hotel. Another fine picture too. But those sails appear so tiny in comparison to the size of the vessel - are they just for show or does this craft have an engine too? I really wonder if you took some pictures inside that lovely junk - those would be interesting!
A Wonderful Trio of Photographs!
Enjoy the rest of your wonderful holiday!

An interesting and colourful capture of the live fish dealer. I am currently close by, in Phnom Penh, and weather is not too good... you were lucky to have some sunshine!

Here you have, in addition to the original motif, and the luxury of beautiful colors.

Perfect image quality as always.

Never seen anything like this before - A floating fish market. The fishes are kept in the water itself to keep them alive in baskets dipped in water, very unusual sight.I am not sure as to how the buyers may be coming to buy the fish,is it on another boat? You have chosen a good angle to shoot this rare shot with a lot of dexterity.Sharpness and POV are perfect with proper light management.Very well done, TFS.

Vraiment une belle image, scéne, couleurs, le POV, les détails, la note, juste dommage d'avoir couper le coin de la barque, mais c'est juste un détails car c'est une très belle image

Another great shot from Vietnam. Again the light i gorgeous, the orange ball balancing well the compostion and not seeing the woman's face does not bother me at all. Very interesting way of life too.

Seems this market is very different from the one in Thailand. And you got better weather, too:)!I like the details a lot, specially the nets with the fish. I haven't seen them when I was in Ha Long. Good and authentic scene, with good colours! I like the Ws also!

Ah we all love a good market, and this is one with a difference. Jeez the fish must be fresh as fresh can be! You got a good POV here, and demonstrated beautifully the colours and textures of the old boat. Lucky you staying on the river itself and what a beautiful and very exotic name "descending dragon". Fantastic shot which conjures the sights, smells and sounds of this exotic region so beautifully.
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely Sunday

a wonderful composition exalted by the tight frame. I love the downward point of view that offers us a comprehensive description of the boat, its textures, colours, contents. It also explains the lady's work, offers superb depth and perspective and places the subject against a fascinating backdrop full of variations and interest. Light management is exquisite offering lovely colours and making the transfer from lit to shady parts smooth and delightful. Great work, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,
