Hill Tribes #2, a photo from Lao Cai, North East

Photographer's Note

From my old stocks of Vietnam hill tribes. She is a lady of Black Mong tribes. I encounterred with her when I did treckking around Sapa area. She kindly sreverd with hot tea to me and my guide. With assit of guide's I communicated with her for a while. She was 50 years old and had 4 childredn and 5 grand-children.
50 years old is not so old in a sense but hard life and care at this area seem to have left deep lines on her forehead.

Between you and Abmdsudi, Takero, we're getting a wonderful documentary trip through Vietnam's hill country! The bright, almost harsh light on this woman's face reveals a lifetime; a weary expression, but also still full of life, with brilliant blues surrounding her. Wonderful capture.

Hi Takero,
A wondeful portrait image, and a great note to go with it. I would guess that if this woman is only 50, she must have endured some hard times as I do feel she looks a lot older. There is a wonderful kindness to her face, and particularly here eyes though, which ties with you sharing tea with her. Wonderful image.

50 only? She definitivlly looks older to me (not that one should say that about a women), but a life of hard work just shows its traces.
Beautiful portrait with a great clarity and nice light and the way she is looking in the camera, there is a real connection.

a wonderful portrait in which marvellous sharpness and lighting help the textured face narrate the lady's life story. Her clear, steady, direct, honest and serious glance are captivating. I like very much the colours and the mood they create in combination with the lady's expression and lined face. I think that maybe the guide made a mistake in reporting her age, the lady looks much older. Anyway, her face is most interesting and your work most effective, congratulations and thank you!
