Photographer's Note

These are the Red Dzao, probably the second largest ethnic minority group here in Sapa with their famous identity, the distinctive eye-catching bulky red head-dresses which supposedly determine how rich they are depending on size, with shaved eyebrows and foreheads. The red colors are omnipresent here and their traditional clothes are a true delight for the eyes; a colourful inspiration for any creative mind with those wonderful hand sewn embroideries.

This was a quick grab from some distance away using 300mm lens, but was lucky to have my camera ready. Focused on the central figure while others were busy chatting away. Not the kind of lighting I like but the colour certainly enhances the beauty of these people on this cool overcast afternoon.

But the strong fiery red made it a powerful moment filling one's soul with warmth of the purest kind....
