The name of the river is Perfume and I shot this as our boat crossing behind Dong Ba Market by sunset.

I was born at Cu Chanh Village where Tu Duc Tomb locates — 4 kilometer-beeline upstream from this spot, and I have spent nearly two decades within the area. The river has been in my youth since the period when my friends and I used to swim almost every day after class hours. The river also engraved in my memory its yearly flood that prompted critical miser to local residents in the monsoon.

If you have lived by a river and had your days with it for many years, you would understand how much I missed it while living half the planet away… and you would feel my feelings as you come back to it. This afternoon, I rented a little boat and asked the owner to row slowly so I could listen to the sound of waves and the chants floating in evening wind. All the way to Long Tho Village in the west, the sun was setting down. In such tranquility, as the boat was rocking, I let myself flowing backward to the past.

Please share with me the taste of my youth city of Hue.

Hi Thanh. I do know how you feel, though I don’t think our river has quite the romance as this. Well captured, I love the colours and the way you have composed this image. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

From time to time during my tour in the late '60s, I had been here and seen this image of sunset. Unfortunately, the then red color of sunset was similar to blood and fire from the war. It's good to see a sunset of Hue in peacetime.
Thank you, Thanh.

As a daughter of Hue, I cannot help but feeling a strong nostalgia when I view and read your note about the river.
I hope I would see the same image when I visit the city next year.
Thank you,

MQ

Hi Thanh, the colors are quite strange but I like the way it is composed, this huge silhouette, the bridge and the water, a nice one...
