This is a shot of Perfume River from Vọng Cảnh (Hill for Scenic Viewing) looking northwest.

In the late '40s, this location has been my father's combat artillery battalion headquarters so he moved his family here, and prompted the local commune's name Cư Chánh shown in my birth certificate. I also spent many scholar years within the area, and the view of the river has been part of my life.

During each returning trip from USA, I always came back to the same spot on the hill, sitting over the cliff for an hour or so, looking down to the river. The current kept flowing, but some where in my memory I still see the pictures of my youth, after six decades...

Please share with me a moment. Thanks.

Hello Thanh,

Une très belle image aux couleurs impressionnantes ! J'aime bien cette diagonale traçée dans l'eau et qui donne de la vie à l'image !
Bien vu !

A+

Dominique

Colours are superb! A bit more details on the boat would have been great.
Regards, Paul

Hello Thanh,

The contrast between the golden water and the shadows are excellent. It is a really impressive picture.
I do agree with Brandseatter...this picture is actually full of peace...and helps remembering the memories

Hi Thanh,

a wonderful 'painting'. Incredible golden colors and good composition.

Well done

Giorgio

Hi Thanh,

Interesting picture and for sure an interesting note. I am wondering about the orange arrows all over the map... Artillery positions one would almost think..

Your picture has a very nice mood to it, a peace, a tranquility. I agree with Chris. I can imagine that you have a 40 x 60 print-out of it in your living room back in the US, to enjoy quietly in the evening. Nice shot.

Greetings, Dennis

Great shot and composition! I like the sepia motif.

Nick

I agree with Dennis about having it enlarged at 40" x 60" for your living room to enjoy quietly in the evening.
George

I have heard about Perfume River and Vong Canh Hill, but have never been to Hue.
I am sure when I have the first chance to this part of my country, I will visit this hill, and enjoy its beauty by my own eyes.
Thnak you.

Hi Thanh:
A wonderfull composition... So good light and ambiance...
Thanks!

"I still see the pictures of my youth, after six decades..." Whoa! I didn't know you that old, I thought you're "just" only 60!... HAH!HAH!HAH!!!!
Other that just teasing you - Thanh, I agree with others' comments/critiques on your picture. Nice shot, and of course - was I surprised? Nah!

Cheers,

Nice capture, beautiful warm colours.

I am late to arrive to this wonderful picture, but I am sure I am not the last. More friends will share and will appreciate the beauty you captured of "your" river.
Thanks,
