I'm not exactly sure what these structures are, but it looks like an old French Catholic church in the background, with a part of the blackened remains of the imperial palace of the Forbidden Purple City, in the foreground. The napalm bombs of the American / Vietnam war, have spared neither.
Taken on an unusually overcast, rainy day. The puddle in the foreground reflects the sombre mood.

A very well captured scenery of a building facade in ruins. Here I like the very good reflections in the water, the colors and the good manegemeht of light you did.
Well seen and composed. Congratulations!

hi chris, good question in your title, i think this is a very symbolic picture, the bells toll for those whose bodies arte scattered arround, let the ruins remain and watch this thing never happens again;
an important photo;
have a nice day, jerzy

One for my 'boook title' theme. Interesting building, good PoV and reflection. Maybe the contrast up a bit too much here, some detail lost int he shadows.

The Marines left that delicate jewel, Hue in ruins (of course the vietcong weren't shy either). Empty cans of coke, makeshift girlie bars and devastation were what we left behind, and your splendidly heartbreaking image is a reminder, Chris. Man, what beauty there must have been before...FIne, sober image, nicely composed. Powerful. Cheers, Francis

Good title of this shot Chris, apperently in this peaceful setting as of 1999. So very bad with the things going on 27 years before. Good ducomentary John, and no reason to forget the use of napalm in those days and what was 'won' in the end for the 'rightdoers' of the time... probably the same kind of victories they still are in to..

Nice mood, and nice title, Chris. As you say, the mood is sombre and the dark colours reflect and accentuate that. I really like the sense of stillness. An interesting shot - I like it a lot.

Hello Chris, very interesting photo today but very sad too. This is a good testimony of our world and what we do with it. The photo is a little bit dark but it's good for the atmosphere of the scene. Thanks for this testimony. byebye

L'émotion passa à travers cette prise de vue. Les ruines expriment suffisamment la pénibilité des lieux (souvenirs à effacer). Le miroir de cette grande flaque est là pour ne pas oublier ce que l'homme peut faire.
Une photographie de qualité.

A somber combination of photo and note, Chris. The remains of the old structures give a feeling of loss about the opulent beauty that was destroyed. Good contrast and a well-included reflection.

At first glance it looks dark, but this finally fits quite well to the story that comes along with it. Another good way to illustrate the fact a TE photo must be nejoyed together with the note !
Have a nice day,

Hi Chris, It is amazing that this structure can still be standing there. This place looks like deserted. A nice composition capture the water in front to show how much changed in the environment to this place. Nicely taken picture with good DOF to have depth and clarity. Well done.
