Everyday, this man goes earns money by detecting bombs which are still remain on the ground. More than 30 years have passed since the Vietnam War ended, there are still many bombs and mines somewhere under the ground in Vietnam.
He told me that with a bomb like this, he can exchange for 2kilo of rice, just enough for his 5 mouths family (2 kilo of rice is worth about 30 US cent). And further mentioned " Until the day under the ground still having bombs and mines, I still can get rice for family". But he could not be able to answer when I said "If there is no bombs/mines anymore, how would you live?". He has no altenative...
C'est lavie!
I really not intend to mention anything about any politics matter here. Just want to bring you one more portion of Vietnam's life as well as to let people know one of the most special characteristic of Vietnamese, it's being optimistic. With that the Vietnamese has getting over difficulties and with that we have now opening the gate to step out to te world.
Thanks and appreciate very much all critiques from you |
