The river around Can Tho in the Mekong delta is lined with the houses of the poor, made from all sorts of materials but especially corrugated iron when available.
The houses stand on thin timber posts driven into the river bed.
Scattered amongst the houses are storage areas and behind them up the hill a little and away from the risk of floods are the houses of more well off people.

Great B&W image, of this fascinating old fishing village. It could easily be 100 years old. Great details and textures, I like it alot.
PS: Did you get the photos I sent you?

I immediately recognize the can tho area. I had great fun in capturing the scenes from the local floating market...but I also was quite shocked by the basic life condition of local people...
