Photographer’s Note

The lovely town of Ha Tien is traditionally reached by a pontoon bridge.
All manner of vehicles pay a toll to cross (pedestrians go free), and every morning sections are removed to allow fishing boats to pass through to the "East Lake" here on the left.
Locals fish from it and there's a steady stream of shoppers, workers, policemen, and schoolchildren coming and going.

But there's a new high-level concrete bridge further out in the estuary - fine for cars and motorbikes, but not for pedestrians and cyclists, cyclo-riders and handcart-pushers......

Next year the army want their pontoon bridge back and sadly another piece of old Vietnam will be gone.
