Today an old scanned picture from a canal of the Mekong Delta, Vietnam.

*Scanned image*

-------------------------------------------------------------

The Mekong Delta (Vietnamese: đồng bằng sông Cửu Long "Nine Dragon river delta") is the region in Southeast Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea through a network of tributaries.
The Mekong delta region encompasses a large portion of southeastern Vietnam of 39,000 km².
The area covered by water depends on the season.
The inhabitants of the Mekong Delta region are largely ethnic Viet, with Khmer minority populations living primarily in the Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, and An Giang provinces. There are also sizeable Chinese minority populations in the Kien Giang and Tra Vinh provinces.

The Mekong is one of the world's major rivers. It is the 10th-longest river in the world, and the 10th-largest by volume (discharging 475 km³ of water annually). Its estimated length is 4,023 km. It drains an area of 795,000 km²: From Tibet it runs through China's Yunnan province, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. All except China and Myanmar belong to the Mekong River Commission. The extreme seasonal variations in flow and the presence of rapids and waterfalls have made navigation extremely difficult.
The name was originally named by the local Tai peoples as Mae Nam Khong, Mae Khong for short, meaning Kong River or "Mother of all rivers". This was picked up and phoneticized in the Chinese as Méigōng Hé (湄公河) for the external part, without realizing it became "River Kong River", the same redundancy as in English. In China for most of its length it is known as the "Lancang River" (澜沧江, Láncāng Jiāng). In Burmese, it is called the Mae Khaung (ແມ່ນ້ຳຂອງ) while in Thai it is Mae Nam Khong (แม่น้ำโขง), in Laotian (ແມ່ນ້ຳຂອງ) Mènam Khong, in Cambodian Mékôngk or Tonle Thom and in Vietnamese Cửu Long Giang. In Thai, Kong (Thai: โขง) is a species of crocodile; some believe this is tone-shifted from (Thai: คค) Kod, or (Thai: โต้ง) kong, both adjectives to describe curves or meanders of a river or road.

Beautiful image with suc a great POV from above. I like the strong colour treatment you did bringing so much continuity in the blue tones. Very interesting.

Bonjour Paolo
Simple et épurée cette prise de vue mais quelles magnifiques teintes.Le cadrage est parfait .
un excellent travail
Amitiés

Hello Paulo,

For a scanned slide, your photo of the Mekong River displays brilliant colors and good definition. The composition is very effective, especially with the boatman going about his business, his face hidden by the straw hat.

Regards from Virginia, USA.

This one is a kind of cyan bombardment. Boat, cloth and reflected sky have all that cyanic touch.

Hello Paolo,

Wow, nice picture you got here! Wonderful, the direct colours of the boat and the leaves combined with the reflections of green and blue tones. Good composition and sharpness is certainly okay when taking into account that we are actually looking at a scanned picture! Thanks for sharing this one with us.

Greetings, Dennis

Very pretty, Paolo, first the colors, then the clever framing, then the choice of vertical format that emphasizes the dynamics of the shot, great shot, TFS! Daniel

Hello Paolo,
Excellent composition with man and boat nicely placed in the frame and the wake of the boat rippling behind. Lovely peaceful colours and very good sharpness. Very good slide conversion.

the boat looks as if its paint is being left behind in the river........very nice composition paulo, well framed and very well scanned.

Ciao Paolo,

Hello Paolo,
A very unusual photo of the SE Asian tropics both with your POV and the light blue colors. I also like the subtle motion of the person "gliding" through the water. Great photo with fine artistry!
Stan

Hi Paolo,
What can I say, this is a lovely shot. The cool blues and greens really give the shot a calming feeling. Great point of view from above and a good subject.

Wanda

Ciao Paolo,
The quality of the scan is very good and I find that the dominant blue and green tones give a relaxed atmosphere to the photo. It's a nice view from above on this boat, almost as if we were spying in on the solitary boatman.
Regards, Brigitte

Ciao Paolo,
Those colors seem to have jumped from an impressionist's palette. The viewpoint is fantastic; don't know how you quite got it. Perfect timing freezing the rowing action. Excellent work!
