The Cai Rang Floating Market is one of several floating markets in the Mekong Delta. This market is where locals go to buy and sell a variety of fruits and vegetables from boats of all sizes. During the early morning market hours, larger sized boats anchor and create lanes that smaller boats weave in and out of. The waterway becomes a maze of hundreds of boats packed with mango, bananas, papaya, pineapple, and even smuggled goods like cigarettes. Sellers tie their goods to a tall pole so that buyers can see from a distance what they are selling. Other boats sell beer, wine and soft drinks to the merchants and the buyers.
In the summer '98 it was empty of tourists and it still was an original floating market, not a circus for foreigners like someones of Thailand.

Hi Paolo,
Very nice daily life picture in black and white format. Good POV, tones and details
TFS and have a nice day
Aires

This is a captivating photo for its contrasts. However, in keeping with your comments, I think it would have worked better if we could see the actual products you mention. To me, it looks as though they are exchanging seaweed. Hope this helps. Paul.

Bonjour, cher Paolo,

Stefano.

Interesting daily life capture. B&W works well here. Could perhaps take a step back to avoid the crops on edges, or use a different pov? paulalex32 does have a point. Regards,
Hakan

Hello Paolo,
Nice black and white image well rendered. Nice contrast between the tourist with her sun hat and bag and the traditionally dressed Chinese women.

Hi Paolo,

Great B&W photo and a good representation of a daily life which is so different from my own.

Best regards,
Paul.

Bel B/N in tono seppia e bella la scena di vita quotidiana, ben fatto Paolo, complimenti.
La aggiungo anche al mio tema su vecchie foto in B/N.
Ciao
Vinicio

Hi Paolo,
The timeless character of this market scene is well accentuated by the sepia toning. Good work.

Hi Paolo!
Good shot with interesting daylife action on the river. These traditional hats contrast well and it looks like the woman at the left is just taking a photo.
Regards,Leo

Hi Paolo,
These floating villages are quite common all over South East Asia and as you rightly said can be quite a circus thanks to commercialisation. Nice B&W conversion.
