Photographer’s Note
another shot from dear Cần Thơ
This picture was taken at the famous Ninh Kieu Quay and shows the public boats dock. Not a lot of tourist take this type of boat. They are slow, local and very noisy, but if you have time and you manage to convince the attendant to really sell you a ticket, they can be quite an adventure.
---
Cần Thơ is the biggest city in the Mekong Delta. On the south bank of the delta's biggest branch of the Mekong, it is a bustling and fast growing city,
Cần Thơ is known for its rice farming, production and research. Apart from its rice and agriculture department, the local University of Can Tho also houses a splendid School of Education for training teachers (where I worked for couple of years).
Most tourist visit Cần Thơ on a tour from Ho Chi Minh City and most of their time is spent going to floating markets or fruit gardens. I recommend straying off into town for a cà phê sữa đá or a meal in one of the many excellent local restaurants.

Hallo Benny,
Groet,
Henk

Hi Benny
A fine slice of life shot. Nicely composed without anybody cut off at the edges. Often hard to do when everyone is in motion.

Why do you have to convince the attendant to sell you a ticket? In here, I really like the converging lines created by the boats leading the eye to the activities going on in the actual pier. It is a nice crispy photo with fantastic natural colours and plenty of interesting focal points. Well done.

Hello Benny,
I spent a few days in Can Tho last year, thoroughly enjoying the city, its waterfront and the market-streets. It pleases me much to revisit this nice city through this photo which reminds me of the hours spent watching the local action. You have captured an interesting scene with exceptionally good light, colours and sharpness.
Thanks for sharing,
Gert
