Refe. Lac Lake. Dac Lak VN
Covering 600 hectares in Lak District, 56 kilometers south of Buon Ma Thuot City, Lake of Lak is considered as a huge silver mirror of the Central Highlands province of Daklak, fed by the Krong Ana River which homes many crocodiles and bird species,. Around the lake are rivers, streams, mountains and forests and the natural landscape lake remains virgin. The lake is surrounded by low mountains which make fantastic views. On the lakeside, a former palace owned by the last Nguyen King, Bao Dai, can be seen. From this palace, we can get a panoramic view of the valley.

Most of M’nong villages (Yun, M’lieng, Le...) hill tribesmen live in the south of Daklak Platea, along the Lak lakeside. They earn their living mainly by farming and fishing. Their culture is strongly influenced by Edeh’s. It is difficult to distinguish an Edeh from a M’nong if they don’t carry their traditional back-basket. M’nong back-basket is made of bamboo. Edeh back-basket is also made of bamboo but the bottom of the basket is formed by 4 rectangular pieces of wood.

According to M'nong ethnic people living in the region, previously piraguas were made from the biggest and hardest trees of the forests. Tree trunks were hollowed out and then coated with a type of anti-proof resin. However, people are now banned from chopping down trees for making boats but the M'nong people are still taking pride themselves on their dugout making technology.

Hi Huy

My open tour bus did not stop here so I didnt get the chance to take any photos. Thanks for sharing. A good daily life shot, & the repetition of the boats, is an attractive addition. Well done!

Bonjour, Jolie composition et belle image de ce lac. Note trés interessante aussi et c'est sympa de nous faire decouvrir ce si beau pays. Les couleurs sont un peu bizarres pour moi mais bon j'aime beaucoup la scene. Merci bien

Mr. Huy: I need an airticket from Houston, Texas to Tan Son Nhat, where I could ask Mr. Duc for a rear-seat on his Land-Cuiser... heading Daklak. Your invitation turned me on: I left BMT in April 1985. 20 years have gone by...

Home Sweet Home!

Cheers!

Hi Huy. I think the shot is too bright. Check out my workshop if you don't mind. Nice one Huy.

very beautiful composition, this picture looks like a painting more than a photograph image.

Amicalement.

Dear Huy,
I like always you wonderful pictures of your country, splendid daily life shot, excellent good note too.
But, the quality is a little unsharp.
Best regards,
John

A nice picture Huy but I do fine the green too strong . I have tried a little workshop. Hope you don't mind.Regards Kevin

Hi Huy - very nice composition and excellent informative note, the green parts look unnatural though, they may be oversaturated, and as mentioned by otrhers, the horizon has a slight tilt to the right.

Bonsoir Huy,
