Photographer’s Note
The ruins of Ayaz-Qala are gradually consumed by the desert landscape of the Kyzylkum, as the years pass by into centuries. This 6-7th century fortress rises out of its parched surroundings, hauntingly incongruous with the desolate windswept plains that surround it. A faint reminder of a glorious past, consigned to a lonely fate on the periphery of civilization.
