Photographer’s Note

Bibi-Khanym-Mosque is named after the favourite wife of Tamerlane the ruler of Samarkand. He ordered to build the mosque after his campaign to India in 1399. It was finished in 1404 but already in 15th century it began to become ruined because of imperfection at the construction. It was severely damaged during an 1897 earthquake. Reconstruction began in the Soviet era in 1974

hi roland

whether 600 years or 60, it's still a unique design worthy of a photograph. interesting patterns and writings on the wall. the meaning of which i would be interested to know. the building next to the dome, though intricate, seems bland next to the blue curves. thanks for sharing.

Das muss doch atemberaubend sein - vor so etwas zu stehen. Dein Foto zeigt wunderschöne Einzelheiten und der Blickwinkel, nur auf die Kuppeln gerichtet, erzeugt irgendwie eine feierliche Stimmung. Ein wirklich nicht alltägliches und sehenswertes Foto!

Hallo Roland,
ein absoluter Blickfang, diese Moschee, wunderschöne Architektur. Das Licht ist etwas hart, aber man kann nicht immer bis Sonnenuntergang warten :)
