Photographer’s Note

Samarkand is not a fairy tale, it is real. Samarkand is a very old city in Uzbekistan, famous for its beautiful mosques and other historical buildings. They have been very carefully restored, when necessary. The capital of Uzbekistan is Tashkent. The whole country is well worth a visit. Uzbekistan is mostly visited by French and German tourists. And Russian, of course. All people speak fluent Russian. But they are changing from the cyrillic to the the latin letters. Unfortunately the cotton growings in the country dry out the Aral Sea.
