Photographer’s Note
Lonely Planet describes the Registan as "one of the most awesome sights in Central Asia." It's smaller than I'd expected, it feels isolated from the city even though it sits in the middle of it, and the medrassa rooms have been turned into tourist shops. But it still has a majesty about it - not to mention lots of fabulous photo angles. In this one, I played with the building angles, mosque domes, and the setting sun.
Technical: Bit of perspective cropping to straighten out the left wall. A small amount of Levels to correct the right side of the histogram. Some sharpening, using Noiseware Professional (which also fixed some noise in the sky at the same time).

Hi, Dan.
Thanks for passing by lately, I appreciate. Been very busy and still am : everybody's on vacation, and while Fulvio isn't he might just as well take care of work, friends' pets, etc... LOL!
A fine shot, bathing in excellent lighting (good angle) and featuring great overall detail. Samarkand, uh? One of the oldest cities in the world, on the Silk Road... I'd like to go East sometimes, for a change. But I guess I just love too much to go West...
Have a nice day, see ya soon.
Fulvio.

Hi Dan
I don't know how old the building is but it seems to have retained its colourful detail very well. The light really does it justice.

Hi Dan,
Splendid prespective to capture these intricately designed towers.
The golden architecture is beautifully complimented by the rich light and vivid blue sky.

hi Daniel
very interesting: i am surprised how well this architecture has survived 70 or so years of 'sovietization'... even though 'madrassa rooms turned into tourist shops' has a hint of 'sovieticus' attached to it.
warm regards,
kristaps
