Photographer’s Note
I’ve been travelling through Bangkok for many years, the Hotel I stay at faces West and the room I always have is on the 34th floor. Its interesting that for my last post I uploaded a Sunset shot through some of the worst pollution I’ve ever seen. This shot, taken only a few days later the visibility was in excess of 15 kilometres. I’d been watching these large Equatorial Thunderheads building for most of the afternoon, lots of lightening but no rain., then all of a sudden the clouds began to break up giving way to a glorious sunset. I’m almost sure that at the moment I pressed the shutter the last of the remaining Thunderheads erupted with a huge bolt of lightening, illuminating the heart of the cloud with this monstrous burst of energy. Nature is just breathtakingly incredible, don’t you think.

Hi Peter,
The sky is like from a scifi-movie. No doubt weather conditions had to be rare to give those lights and clouds on this city. And you were just on the right place high above the street level to capture it together with illuminated skyscrapers.

Hi Peter,
You're surely having a room with a view!
Yep, you were lucky here. No pollution, no smog, a nice wide view with very interesting build up of clouds as you indicate! A bit colour noise in the darker grey shadow parts, but a nice sunset it is!
Greetings,

Vivid, dramatic. I can imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger saying, "I will be back… yet again" while looking up at a sky like this. Great work Peter!
Cheers!

You nailed it with this one, Pete! The Oly 8080 is a great camera for this kind of shot, too: great colours and sharpness. Just a suggestion: try cropping off the bottom of the shot up to the lower river bank level, and maybe some off the sky at the top to give more of a 'wide-screen' view to really give the shot a more dramatic effect.
Best wishes,
Jeff

Hi Peter, fine shot of this event. Although I've only ever stopped briefly in Bangkok I find it remarakable to see a clear sky. I thought it never happened. Exposure was perfect, with all elements of the shot visible. cheers, Steve

Wonderful Peter!!!
Poetic, but dramatic.
Part in colour, buildings part in B&W.
Upside nature, downside construction.
Two worlds in one.
Really good.
Best Regards.

Hi Peter,
I liked to think that we have gorgeous sky and sunsets here in Calgary but seeing what I see now,I think that Mother Nature`s gift are endless and luckily for us,there are people like you out there,to gather those gifts.
I`m a Star Trek fan and this looks like a holodeck image:)
Thank you very much,

The sunset backdrop is absolutely spectacular for a city shot, with good exposure on the FG buildings. Would have been perfect if you were lucky enough to catch the lightning in this frame on a long exposure setting.

Hi Peter, I strongly agree with you - nature can be incredible.
And this shot (as well as your note) proves it - a heavenly skyscape to be soon interrupted by a massive bolt. I like the contrast between the artificial lighting (with a "Matrix"-greenish tint) and the art of natural forces. Really a impressing view.
Best regards,
Adrian

Ciao Peter,
Saluti, Nino.

Ciao Peter.
I was in Bangkok two weeks ago, and although I was only to the 12th floor, I have been able me to also admire the stupendous nighttime effect of this great city.
I have to do you really the compliments for this suggestive sunset, almost mystical, that pleasantly opposes with the lights of the city. Really a beautiful photo, sincere compliments.
