Photographer's Note
Wat Mahathat, (Kings Palace) Old Sukhothai (1238-1278ad.) Sukhothai was the old capital of Thailand in the 13th century. Hiring a bicyle is a fun way to get around the ruins, which have sealed paths between the temples ideal for the purpose. (Scanned print, sharpened twice) The rooves were made of wood, (teak?) which has long since rotted away or been destroyed by fire. (Burmese invasions?). Only the stone columns remain today. The lower, central silhouette is a Buddha statue head & shoulders profile. Some of the columns have grass growing out of them.

Very nicely done silhouette. Nicely balanced composition. Great colors of the setting (rising?) sun in the bg. I could figure out the one of Buddha even without reading the note :)

Very attractive silhouette; like the way that it hides so much in order to beckon you to go visit... the colours are so intense I thought at first it'd come off a slide. Well seen and well presented.

You made a work of art from these silhouettes against the setting sun. Very distinctive shapes, and a fabulous color setting with the degradation of hues from red into yellow. Great notes, too, well done Chris.

Dear Chris, without your note, I could be mistaken to think the silhouette was about a real person in royal headgear sitting down, watching this red golden sunset. The religious structures are magnificient don't they. Just goes to show how much you could do, with your belief.

This is a stunner Chris, a product without doubt of your discerning eye. I don't know whether you did any post processing of the scanned image, but the sharp edges of the silhouette and the lovely colors of the sky are really fine. Excellent presentation of a first rate capture. Congratulations.

Chaque silhouette se découpe bien et les pointes forment (si on les relie entre elles) une autre pointe, le tout sur un ciel couchant magnifiquement dégradé. Et je reconnait un bouddha à ses longues oreilles.

Wonderful shot Chris, mysterious. Lovely colour tones in the sky. Attention is drawn to the Buddha head....I wonder what life was like there in the 1200's....

Hi Chris,
You have so many great shots that everytime I open your profile your random selecto gives me one I missed.
The silhuetes are magical, as they dont tell you what they are but they suggest it very well.
Beautiful colours,
Very well done.

Daniel

Chris, a fabulous silhouette with the Buddha's head being instantly recognisable. A wonderful sky colour, nicely graduated from a bright yellow light at the centre to a rich red and purple towards the edge.

Hi Chris - I saw this by random and had to open it, this is brilliant, a superb mix of exotic silhouettes and fiery colours, the Buddha statue looks like another padoga until you notice the ears.

Hi Chris. I like this a lot. The silhouettes and especially the variety you have captured in one frame is good to see. Unusual colour and as always an inspiring note. One of many good ones from Thailand via your lens. TFS. Murray.
PS Look forward to some remarkable ones from your forthcoming trip-sounds like a wonderful route.

Hello Chris,
It may be an old one but I believe it is the best I have seen from Sukothai. The golden pink and the well studied silhouettes are amazingly good. Congratulations - Izzet

Hi Chris
This is one of the best pictures I have seen from Sukhothai, I lik all the details in the ruins, like the grass and other plants sticking out.
Beautiful work
