Photographer’s Note

A simple capture on the boat ride to "my island" (Ko Phangan). In the middle of summer the heat was unbearable but for many long-term backpackers this was a holiday from a holiday and the only thing they had time for was relaxing.

Before visiting Ko Phangan I had no idea that such beautiful places really existed in the world. I believed that holiday brochures and photos on the Internet were all heavily manipulated to help to crystal clear or perfect teal coloured waters be the way they are. Boy was I wrong!

You really captured the feeling, great work! When travelling long distances in SE Asia, one just has to find ways of enjoying these good moments of transportation. :)

Lewiz, thats a nice concept and well implemented! I like the colors of the distant see, the proped head of the tired backpacker and the use of shallow DOF to frame the head against the sky. IMHO, a tighter crop would have done a better job focusing the eye on the head and not distracting it to the less important backpacks at the lower part of the picture.
