Photographer’s Note

This photo was shot minutes before A helping hand outside a temple in Ayutthaya.

Here we can see a young child being taught by his mother how to pray. Undoubtedly this was his first time... I don't know a great deal about Thai worship, but it was so clear to me... every movement was careful and in a way very rigid... almost scared that he might get it wrong.

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll have to do a catch-up over the weekend as I've been really busy recently!

Lewis, I like the intense focused look on the child here. You've managed to do it very well, and there's nothing much to fault about this picture really. The POV is really good. Well done.

Beautiful shot, Lewis, one of the most "tender" pics on TE. Your title is right on, emphasizing the teacher (slightly OOF) and not the "star", the serious looking boy. The hands joined in prayer, the concentration and how through the compression of your 80-200 lens the teacher is almost, I say, almost kissing the boy on the cheek...all add to an ineffable vision of sweetness in a sweet land.

I like this photograph for it's comosition, the expression on the boys face and the subdued colors that lent itself to the subject matter. i detect a little motion on the camera but it worked to your advantage giving the photo soft lines.
