Photographer’s Note
The third shot I've uploaded with very shallow "pin-point" depth-of-field. This was taken a mere half hour apart from my last, which was a set of bells.
I discovered this photo yesterday after recovering a whole pile of RAW files from a dump of a corrupt CompactFlash card. Since people seem to enjoy these shots I figured I'd post this one.
Tomorrow I will be uploading another newly-discovered shot, probably the one I am most excited about... until then, thanks for looking!

Indeed, this is a beautiful and well done picture! Pressing and blurring is a great way to isolate THE ONE subject...Good vivid colors and well use of a wide open aperture! I guess you had a note about the place in your other post, so I will check it for the background info...

composition is impecable. colors are vivid. overall effect astounding. it's as if flames were eating up silver. focusing at not the frontmost object centers the composition. largest figure in the back prevents the composition from 'falling' and sinking to the right.

Bonsoir Lewis,
J'aime cette prise de vue pour sa composition, la PDC bien choisit qui fait ressortir magnifiquement la 2eme statut et le contrast entre la pierre et les tuniques oranges! Bravo
Best regards

Hi Lewis, wonderful DOF and the added vibrant colors really makes this stand out and the statues eerily lifelife. Thanks for sharing.

Could have been a B&W shot if it wasn't for that yellow! I think you have captured this one statue well. Provides a great view/focus. This is a Buddha, right? Interesting for me to see the difference (similarities) between Indian and Thai Buddha's.

Hi Lewis
Well composed shot with the second statue well focussed which makes it stand out so well from the others. I like the line and the vivid yellow.

Hey Lewis,
gotta say that I really like it a lot. Im sort of on this kind of theme as well with masks and other traditional non-living things. And usually I like to photograph people. But what works here is the yellow robes on these statues. In a way, they make us feel like the stone is living flesh. I like the beautiful bokeh as well.

In a way, I find the creativity of this picture more interesting than the full face with lower-light, with only one Bouddah in focus,
Now I read your comment (I always give first impression then read the comment of the photographer and the other critics) and notice that you had problems too with "corrupt" (dirty dog!) CompactFlash card (256M), how did you get it back?

this is a sensational shot! i'm particularly drawn to your very selective focus here, keeping only the second statue clearly focused.
the colours are also very striking. great composition!

La photo est parfaite. Les couleurs sont frappantes et le flou est magnifique.

Hi Lewis - this is brilliant, the single focused buddha looks 3 dimensional, and the bright robes make a fantastic contyrast

Hi Lewis,
Finally remembered to take a look at your photos.
I love this one (and many others!) for the tight cropping and strong colours.
It certainly works to isolate the statue using the wide aperture.
Great photo.
Cheers
Brian
PS Can you remember where this was taken? I don't think I saw these when I spent a few days cycling round Ayutthaya
