Photographer’s Note
While cruising upstream from Saphan Taksin skytrain station to Tha Tien pier (near Wat Pho) I managed to catch this guy fishing underneath a pier.
I couldn't really imagine that the pickings would be much good but obviously he knew differently. There were one or two other people to be seen during the journey -- some had fishing rods and some were just playing in the water.
There is a little blur (possibly because the boat I was on was moving, but more likely because I wasn't holding the camera still enough), which lets this shot down. I editing this in Nikon Capture to set the levels and pick out the bright yellow of the net. Afterward I cropped in Photoshop (being careful to leave in the top of the pier) and ran an unsharp mask over the result.

Great feeling of dynamism! Last year I tried to do something like this in Thailand, but I couldn't, so congratulations! You are welcome to visit my Thai album and others. Regards.

Hi Lewis,
great picture. This one has really action. I like the fishing net is on the air. The dark background makes the net more appear red. But if you crop the top most part, the blue pipes, it will be better because they are disturbing your eyes. In a whole, this is really good picture with decisive moment.

You seem to have a unique skill in timing your shots. Both this and Jump are spot on!
I'm curious though, why you chose to leave the top of the pier in. You make a point of it in the note, and I'm not sure I agree :(.
Water is well captured. I really wouldn't want to eat fish caught here though!
All the best.

The movement is very well caught here. The picture was probably just taken at the maximum extent of the net, which makes the picture very readable and dynamic. You're right, there's a little blur, bt it makes a good picture however.
Well done,
Yannick

Nice catch, but somes things are wrong : the upper side is unintersting and disturb the read, and the second thing (less important) you shoot a little earlier ... the net isn't completely displayed ...

Hi Lewis - great shot at the decisive moment - I like the flying net (in west africa, the name of this net is epervier - sparrowhawk") - splendid compo -
Thanks

Great shot Lewis, in spite of the conditions!
The position of the net in diagonal and the expression of the guy makes it a very attractive photo. Very well composition and nicely croped and photoshoped. Thank you,
All the best,
Ricardo
