This is a really nice subject, with a good introductory note. I like the environment having an important part of the picture. Nevertheless this picture could be improved in some ways :
- taken from a lower point of view, it would have caught the children in a better way (inside their world). As of the picture as it is now, it carries out the view of an adulte.
- I am no composition specialist but this is how I feel looking at your picture : first I see the two bikes : the red one first(attracting color and light)then the small one (less attracting color but overexposed wheels). Then I am stuck in this part of the picture and I wander on the picture to the children. And then I feel stuck again. The same view from another angle might have helped a lot.
- some areas do not bring information and could have been cropped (left area, top area and bottom area below the bikes)
All this might have improved your picture technically. This said, I think you did a good job of conveying your message. :)

If all pictures were easy to take and perfect on the first time, no one would have interest in photography. ;)
