Photographer’s Note
This is a group of Akha kids in a village I stayed in whike trekking in the hilltribe regions around Chiang Rai. Like a lot of kids in this area, they were thrilled to pose for the camera. I was happy to get this one shot where they look like a cohesive group rather than a bunch of flailing arms trying to knock each over to be in front of the camera!

Emily, this might have been just an ordinary picture of a bunch of kids but it is your perspective and composition that makes it interesting. A great collection of smiling faces, especially the one in the middle!

Excellent composition, I am glad this is recognized by a fair number of other members, and i hope more to come. To boot, it helps to gather up the smiles like flowers would, in a bunch.
Just a detail, but I think the black frame is not appropriate, indeed, with some pix, it adds something somber (as if one of the kids had died, and the pix was destined to be "in memoriam"... :-(

I like this one because they fit into the frame well with lively expression and looking up.Its the diagonals and space at top lhs and botom rhs that make this work for me visually

nice portrait emily. distribution of the faces, along a diagonal, brings even more dynamic to the picture. You did capture the group at a very good moment.
amicalement, michel.
