These three young monks were carrying study materials and appeared to be on their way home from classes. The river boats have a special area set aside for monks. Aside from walking, these boats appear to be a primary mode of transportation.
While these fellows are quite young, a recent article in the Bangkok Pos tdiscussed a study that found that in a survey of 350,000 monks, over half were at risk for poor health. Risk factors are a poor diet, monks must accept whatever food is given them as their only diet. the government is trying to improve their health by making monasteries health centers, this providing better access to health care.

Hi dear Pat!!
Nice to see these monks students, they may look like western guys with a yellow cloth.
Sad waht you tell us about monks' health and poor diet. In Thailand I saw monks eat well, but perhaps they are too many to get enough food each,
I hope you are having good time in Thailand

The photo is intéressnte. Monk's life is not really enviable, according to your interesting note also. A typical, good quality photo. Bravo.
Have a nice day

Two dressed alike, one different, I assume that means he has a different standing in the group of monks...
And that hairdo has become popular these days, I look like that myself hahaha..!
