Traveling on the Chao Phraya river always is a new experience, when ever you go. Naturally, if the river ferry is your daily transport mean to work, then you do not see all the difference. But when you use the ferry only from time to time, you see so many different views like this one: A very traditional pier and in the BG a contemporary glass palace. The contrasts of new vs. old can be bold, especially in an emerging nation like Thailand

Hehehehe this is a funny one!
The old traditional construction stands is strong contrast to the modern highrise, a scene that enhances the beauty of the former...
Good light and fine details, eye-catching colour contrast!

This is well observed and very well done.
I love this permanent contrast when you walk in Bangkok.
And I agree that for a tourist, "the Chao Praya Express" is the mode of transportation the better in every way

davvero bello questo scatto in cui ai colori vivaci abbini anche le due diverse architetture.
ottimo il contrasto e la definizione.

a nice contrast between the old and the modern one! I like the existence of the temple on the pier of the river, as the reflections on the glass of the building.A well surprised shot.
Have a nice week,Danos

I believe that this photo is the mirror of the contrasts that this society is living in this period. a beautiful image with some exceptional reflexes.

You have captured a real contrast of Bangkok ! That's what I noticed when I stayed for a very short period of time last October/November. You have done an impressive decisive moment photo to share with us and to see how the modern technology absorbs the smooth and fine thai architecture ......

C'est une autre façon de voir Bangkok, une façon plus apaisante, plus relaxante, j'ai beaucoup aimée
Intéressant contraste du temple avec le bâtiment moderne

The world has changed so quickly that there was not time for the transition between the old and the new style to be more subtle. Excellent capture, beautiful colors, great light and reflections.
Happy New Year!

Hi Urs. What a standout this photo is! the color is just perfect and the forward structure just pops from the background. So very nice! Judy

This pier is so unique in design looking more like a temple. You are right about the contrast and your shot have displayed what you meant by having the top frame as comparison. Excellent sharp image and thanks a lot for sharing.

Very well seen, Urs. The contrast of architectures is most striking and I like the graphic background of the modern skyscrapper.
Wish you a happy new year,

Asmany have commented, the all technical details are just right and the framing very effective. I see the seeds of your journalistic success in this composition that needs no words for explanation. After a quick scan of your work, this contrast seems to be a common element in your photos.

Nice to remember the many river trips Ive taken from Phra Arhit to Saphan Thaksa. Good contrast, between the old & the new here. Tfs!

I am glad to see this one. I am usually more into architecture or nature and have less interest in people.
This is really incredible, the contrast is fantastic. Cutting away the sky and leaving the modern building to be the background makes it very original, the reflections enhance the effect of surprise.

This probably counts as a great comment on the 21st century> tradition and religion completely dwarfed by commerce and modernity. This nworks very well as a metaphorical picture.
regards and thanks, Iain
