Hi Everyone ;)

This photo have been taken in a temple in Sop Ruak on the side of the Mekong river. This area also known as the golden triangle which includes the border regions of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand was once supposed to be the center of all the poppy cultivation in Thailand.

Ban Sop Ruak is located in Chiang Rai province at about 9 kms(5.6 miles) north of Chiang Saen.

voilà un site vraiment kitch à souhait !
bien dans le genre de nos églises rococco par ex !
la qualité de ton image est excellente, la netteté impeccable et les couleurs bien rendues

Ben la donation box a l'air de bien marcher car ton Budha ne manque de rien, il en est replet au point de faire de la pub pour une celebre marque de pneus ;-) Son environnement aussi est un peu...special ! Une image amusante et legere pour demarrer le week end (enfin !)

A scene that with all the decorations and colours seems quite burlesque to the Western eye, but who are we to judge?
In any case is the scene well presented with good depth and with a good composition that allows the eye to wander over the richness of the decorations.

je ne sais pas si le temple est à la hauteur des couleurs,mais celles-ci sont splendides,j'adore ce bleu partout où quelques touches de rouge apparaissent!La masse de nuages blancs derrière le Bouddha est superbe également,c'est gai et lumineux,bref,c'est franchement agréable à regarder!

Voilà un bouddha jovial et bien entouré... Lieu de culte plutôt original et coloré. J'aime beaucoup ces masses nuageuses en arrière plan qui donne un relief intéressant à l'image. Vu le sol mouillé et qui offre de jolis reflets, ne serait-ce pas le soleil après la pluie... Merci Marilyn.

This must be comended for the eye catching colours in a sinle composition. What is unusual is what looks like something coming out from the Buddha's belly, just not sure what it is. Interesting subject. Are you still in Thailand?

What a colourful and unusual temple!What seems strange to me here is that the Buddha is very chinese and the irons seem to go straight into his belly.Seems you had good weather on that day. A really nice and colourful photo!

Hi Marilyn,

Unexpected neighbourhood for a Buddha. It proves Buddha keeps up with the times in this modern ambiance. No golden scene, but only high-tech colours and metals.
I like this wide POV with Buddha in the centre.

Excellent shot of this Buddha with beautiful monsoon clouds in the BG! Congrats, that is a very colorful and vivid shot. In particular I like the blue pattern in the FG. I have been there, but I never saw the Buddha, possibly I did not walk far enough. Well done

La vue de cette photo ne peut que nous faire sourire comme le bouddha au milieu de son stand. J'aime la lumière et les bleus du ciel et du sol qui font ressortir l'auréole du bienheureux.

what a bluish scenery is this! Blue the floor,the cover of the temple as the sky too,great conjunction.I like the perspective as the smiling Buddha and of course of your existence in the golden triangle.

Nice capture with good pov,light and vivid colors.
Another "teaching" entry.
The only thing which hurts me is the stainless steel structure which creates a "fairy" amosphere. But most probably it has also some reasons !

This is the laughing Buddha! Despite the harsh light, you managed the picture well. Like your low POV, which accentuates the designs of the tiles & leads us to the statue. Good symmetry and pleasant colours

Tu a enregistré très bien l'ambiance joyeux, très coloré de ce temple ou le toit est le grand ciel bleue. Très "thaïlandais"! Adorable!
J'ai lu je ne sai pas ou que se figure qu'on associe à Bouddha est plutôt une autre divinité (chinoise?), mais je ne sais pas se ça a quelque fond de vérité.

Hi Marilyn, This is a bright and vibrant image of this Chinese shrine.I love this area of Thailand, but have never seen this Mahayana shrine, maybe it is quite new. You picture shows well all the brashness and brightness of Chinese Buddhism.Hotei, the fat monk in your picture, was a cheerful, overweight Chinese zen monk or healer who wandered the Chinese countryside helping people about 950 AD.
