Photographer’s Note
Wat Yannawa or as it is called often, the boat wat, is a picturesque Thai Buddhist monastery in the heart of Bangkok at the Chao Phraya river in the district of Bangrak. Only a few minutes walking is a BTS Sky train station.
This wat was build during the last years of the Ayutthaya periode more then 200 years ago. Originally it was called Wat Khok Kwai or buffalo stable. About 170 years ago a Chinese junk was added, hence the nickname boat wat. Since that time it is called Wat Yannawa. Yan in Thai means craft or conveyance and nawa, vessel or boat.
The Temple itself is more of a suburban one, with the exception that it has been frequented over the years by the Chinese population of Bangkok, catering to the nearby Chinatown.

Bonjour Urs,
un cadrage un peu juste, il coupe les pointes du temple et montre la route que je trouve peu utile sur la photo. La présence des voitures gêne aussi. Il y avait sans doute moyen de redresser un peu la perspective.
Best regards.
Daniel.

Dear Urs
I did not know this Wat. of course there are so many of these temples in BKK & I has visited around 8 of them. From this point, the 'boat' of this Wat is not visible..possibly I would like to see the same in one of your future posts. A fine informative note as always!
Best Regards
