Coconut Plantation at Sunset Photo

Photographer’s Note

Sunset at Lamai Beach Ko Samui, in the Gulf of Thailand. Unfortunately, a lot of the coconut trees have been cleared for new resorts, since this was taken in 1990. I went back again last year. Some of the resorts have retained the trees, but cut the coconuts off, so that they don't injure or kill anyone when they fall.

good view of the coconut, it's remind me nusa dua, i rembember had live the same scenery this is very good.

Dramatic silhouette you've achieved here Chris. Interesting note, shame about the coconuts, but probably the odd death quite a price to pay to keep them.

Great shot, Chris! I like the low POV, makes the trees taller, and it captures more of the blue sky. The golden sunset is also beautiful! A very lovely nature shot! rgds.

A very unusual picture but indeed very well. The silhouettes of the palm trees its a very great contrast against the low sun, I like the specially colours Chris!

Nice use of the foliage to create interesting repetition and pattern with the beautiful sky in the background. There is good rhythm like the jungle drums. I like this tropical atmosphere. Hebat sekali!! Best wishes.

Hello Chris, very nice sunset with all that coconuts trees. I think, it's a shame that they to cut them. I am always a little bit sad when I see people cutting the trees. I like very much the changing colors of the sky. Thank you and have a nice day.

A nice exercise in silhouettes and graphism, Chris. Fun to see the outlines of the trees against the varying intensity of light and colors going on in the sky. Needless to say the vertical format was a natural choice for this one. Well captured.

What a nice poetic silhouette of the trees!
really beautiful and I like the perspective here,too,nice fading colors in the sky with those clouds that made a graphism with the other elements nicely.

Hi Chris,
Good framing here to capture the rising palm tree silhouettes against the setting sun, this scan came out very well and did not loose the great clarity of this shot.

I can feel the holidays arriving with this kind of images... I feel the warm breeze in my hair and the smell of fresh coconut...
great sky with 3 different colors and beautiful tree silhouettes rising up to touch the sky. the sun looks lik it has been captured by the small coconut trees.
