Wat Plai Laem is one of the most colourful temples on Koh Samui. It is a strange mix of "disneyland", incredible and expensive kitsch and a place of worship. The temple has many strange statues and features an 18-armed Kuan Hin statue set in the middle of a lake. Her name translates as “The one who hears the cries of the world”. She has many arms so she can help multitudes of people. She is cloaked in a long white robe symbolizing purity and the vase that she holds represents the pouring of compassion into the world

This really stands out from the page - lovely exposure and sharpness. Like the wispy cloud coming from the head. What is the thin string that is particularly obvious on the right? I might have been tempted to clone it out. Beautiful work and informative note.
Best wishes, Ann

A very well seen and well executed photo. Sometimes I will miss stuff like this. But you saw it, and the splendid sky behind really sets it all up! Many helping hands indeed! I like her facial expression too, she does look very compassionate! A fine and original upload! Warm regards,

Good shot of this multi armed statue.
Excellent lightmanagement and great contrast with the sky.
Your low POV works well for the composition.

Wonderful image, dear Rosemary, captured with perfect photographic quality, but above all from an interesting and original low POV that emphasizes the contrast with the blue sky. Very interesting to observe as every arm has a different symbology. I appreciate above all the good sharpness that allows us of ammire every detail. Congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice Thursday!

Hi Rosemary, kitchy or not but very attractive statue of the goddess of mercy - in Japan she is called Kannon. She has many hands and often eleven heads. Nice colourful shot.

Hi my dear Rosemary
A wonderful presentation by tight framework / composition and clearly sharp and deep focus via F.25. Very vivid color contrast of blue and white is attractive and marvelous too. Yes, this is very unqiue Budha, but we have similar one in Japan too.
Thanks for your sharing finest work and have a good day!

Great shot, beautiful color and good POV, I love the contast of the deep blue sky. I could use all these helping hand today at work. I could get a lot more done, only if my mind is good enough to keep a good coordination with these many hands :)
Really good quality photo, I enjoyed it.

I have to hand it to you (sorry!) this is a stunning shot made all the more impressive by your POV and the blue of the sky. Amazing clarity and control of the light. A striking image, well done!

Beautiful shot of this most meaningful statue, exactly what the world needs now more than ever - someone to hear the cries, someone to offer a hand in help and lots of compassion. Wonderful blue sky, great sharpness with delicate detail. TFS

Hello dear Rosemary
This composition is mind-blowing, I love it. The statue of Kuan Yin looks amazing against that magnificent blue sky and clouds. In fact it's the clouds that really enhance the perspective here and provide a fantastic contrast. Great job, congratulations.
