Light and Shade, a photo from Surat Thani, South

Photographer's Note

After cruising among the 42 or so islands of the Ang Thong National Marine Park in the heat of the sun it is such a great pleasure to find yourself in the cool shade among the beautiful rocks and palms of Ko Mae Ko or Mother island, where the famous emerald saltwater lake is situated. This picture shows a small pier where tourists disembark for the island trekking, it looks very inviting.
Perhaps I should have waited for this man to disappear from the frame:)) Well, I did actually but the picture without him hasn't turned out to be half as good as this one somehow, the light was very harsh and shooting from shade into light is always tricky.

Hello Marina,
a really beautiful scenery from the Ang Thong National Marine Park with the side leafs of the palm trees and the rock in the middle to makes the image so effective on the foreground.
I like the wooden jetty as creates depth in the image with the visitors of the island to are readdy to explore it.Good presentation.

Stunning image, Looks as if it is straight out of a glossy holiday bochure! A beautiful photogenic place that I would love to visit. A well worked composition and some great vibrant colors and the palm branches provide nice framing and shade. The colour of the sea is so appetizing good enough to dive straight in. What an absolute beauty. You've captured this quite brilliantly, love it!!

No problem having that man in the photo, and i would agree with you that the lighting here is very harsh to deal with. Having the large branches helps block some of that light for you.
a warm place to visit, seems very relaxing :)

Your title says it all. Here you have managed the light and shade very well. It was not an easy photo to take, but you have made a success of it. An idyllic scene, with the lovely boat and trees creating an atmosphere of isolation and tranquillity.

this is a fantastic place,splendid, I love the colors and I love how you have framed it with leaves of the palmtrees at the top of the picture ,that emphasises the paradisiac atmosphere of the beach.
Personnally, I like that there is a man there, that gives animation, and he is very well placed in the picture.I prefer with him than without.
This is funny to see that you have to go inside the water if you want to reach the beach.Superb picture.
