Every morning at around 7 a.m. a dozen or so Buddhist monks come to the Kimyong market in downtown Hat Yai, the economic heart of Southern Thailand. The devotees offer them food and drink while the monks give them their blessing. The situation in this photograph was rather funny, as the monks were blessing the wife of the man in the FG holding his son. Obviously he was not interested in the religious act, as he preferred to look around then to be blessed. That is not so strange, as Thai women often are more into Buddhism then men

hi Urs,
nice moment captured, but i think the the old man with baby girl took the unwanted attraction here away. the picture shows the respect for the food. the monks are calm and in no hurry , tfs, cheers, ashish

tough life of Buddhist monks.
Very nice contrast of the traditionally clothed monks and the casually dressed people.
Street scene full of color and well explained as usually.

A Nice shot showing the daily life of these monks. This reminds me of the sadhus who do the same thing. The monks are so peaceful and one has to learn how to be unattached. Great shot.
