Photographer’s Note
Ranong is at the extreme southern tip of Myanmar & was affected by the recent tsunami. I know the compo is a little busy, but there was just so much interesting detail in this shot. I took a boat from here over to Kaw Thong in Myanmar for the day. Ranong is famous for its hot springs.

Fascinating shot with lots of interest - so many boats and fishermen! I think I'd crop a bit from the top, but I like it as it is too. So awful to think that many of them may have lost their lives or livelihoods.

Interesting shot Chris and of course very actual today. Lots of details reflecting the busy life by the seafront.

It is busy, Chris, but another way to put it is to say that it is rich in everyday detail of the fishermen, and certainly has a special quality these days, in the face of the tsunami tragedy. Good colors and generally fine work on the scan to get a good presentation.

thats an interesting shot - so much of an action going on in the frame, but i think its just how the place looks like and how the photo from such a place should look like when one wants to give an overall view of the place; 1st thing that comes to my mind is that the scene here is eternal: when you would come back to the place in 50 years it would be the same

Good idea to show this place at this time. The busy compo works fine for the theme, though maybe the contrast is a touch hig, some loss of detail int he shadow of the larger boat's hull.
Happy New Year.

i like the busy atmosphere of this pic Chris. It relates the place as it was and is document of commerce. A better scan than some in the past.

Thanks for posting this. I like the overall busy-ness of it as it is what really happens. Nice colors too. I think BW will even work for this as there are very rich textures here.
I hope to see you back in Thailand soon...the many places you have been too...even most of Phuket is still normal. Only 30 % of it was hit by the tsunami.
Happy New Year.

HNY! I like the fact that the setting is so busy! You can really feel the action and almost here the noises. Strange idea that this is gone now....
very good daily life photo.

Yes it's busy but still it's not distracting. I guess it's because of that house and the suign in it that call the attention bacause it's a clear detail placed in a strong point of the composition. The colors and movement are very nice. I just think that the contrasts are a bit strong. A milder image would be more pleasant.
Still I find this one of your best shots!

Hi Chris :)
This photo makes a change from your others islands "post card" . Here the local daily life holds a place of honor. The fishers, at their activity, gives a lot of details and makes lively the scene. With this significant density of people, houses, boats, I cannot stop myself from thinking about the tsunami disaster. And here the extent of the damages that a gigantic wave could cause takes all its meaning : Terrifying!

This is wonderfully alive and colorful Chris. I marvel at your ability to keep track of so many older images and to convert them so effectively into digital images. The colors and details are rendered very handsomely in this chaotic scene. Frankly, I love the visual intensity. No doubt you've captured the feel of the place with this shot. Fine work.

Good Morning Chris, I love the activity of this photo, we can feel the mouvement of all those people. You are right that it's a little bit noisy but it's a so interesting shot that I can just say thank for publishing it. I like it. Have a nice day

Again a "random" photo I could not resist to open : it gives me the nostalgia of Thailand as it was before, I am not sure that the place has remained the same ! I like personally this kind of "busy" photos as you call it, it is also maybe a bit too saturated at the bottom, but nonetheless, a fascinating document !
TFS,
Amitiés,
Cath.
