what a great shot you got here, Vincent. Unfortunately I missed this festival in Luang Prabang by one day, but I enjoyed to see the preparations of all the decorations. The way you got all the arms/hands holding the lantern is fantastic. Great POV, very inspiring shot.

Wonderful image. The low POV works perfectly to look into the lantern and see all the hands holding it, illuminated by the flame. Interesting note too. It can't be good if one lands near you. ;D

A superb shot! I like very much the hands supporting the bell shaped lantern prior to flight. Your write-up is very interesting.

Thank you for your comment. The original "as shot" photo does not have a very blue sky. When I applied through Photoshop a warming filter at about 32 points the sky turned brownish. I like it so I kept it.

J'aime beaucoup l'ambiance intimiste et mystérieuse de cette image !
Sans lire la note, la scène semble en effet très étrange ! Ton 40D fait des merveilles à 1600 ISO ! La netteté est excellente et aucune lumière parasite ne vient perturber cette très belle et douce lumière !

Very nice use of chiaroscuro effect! It is a little tilted to the left, but not too bad. I particularly like the glow on the arms.

I saw this festival in 2005, really nice to see these lantarns rising up in the sky at night. You made something special from it with including all those arms under it, gives it a lot more in telling the story.
Good light here, i like the black background with full attention on the lantarn and the arms...good work.

On ne voit pratiquement pas le support de la bougie ce qui rend encore plus insolite cette flamme dansante. J'aime bien le rendu de la texture de la cloche en papier de riz ainsi que l' expo et le cadrage avec l'inclusion des bras et mains.

J'ai déjà vu un reportage à la télé où l'on montrait le départ de ces petites montgolfières, mais dans le genre je n'en avait pas vu d'aussi grosses. C'es une belle image spectaculaire et mystérieuse. les mains contribuent au mystère. Belle prise bien réalisée.

magnifiques ces mains autour de la lanterne, c'est une composition puissante, les textures d'une grande subtilité, par exemple le bambou, j'aime la manière dont tu as saisi la flamme, on dirait qu'elle vient de nulle part, et les jeux ombres/lumière sont superbes, avec cette obsurité dont sortes les bras. Du tout beau travail !
