Purple swamphen in Thale Noi, a photo from Phattalung, South

Photographer's Note

Most of the Thale Noi lake is a wetland nature reserve, which is the largest waterfowl reserve in Thailand. The sanctuary covers 457 km2, of which the water area is about 28 km2 with a depth of 1.25 metres. There are plenty of different lotus species and other green plants - in total more then 260 species of flora - covering almost the whole water area, but the main attraction are the birds like the purple swamphen in the picture. It's a large waterhen with an distinctive heavy red beck and forehead shield.

That is an extraordinary looking bird, great colours with distinctive heavy red bill and forehead shield.
You have captured it very well with a nice crisp image, and lovely plumage shines with an intense blue sheen The detail you have caught is awesome right down to his knees lol. That little vivid red creates such a stunning overall contrast. An interesting narrative too thanks Great work, Congrats

Good closeup of the waterhen. She does have very attractive colours. Well captured in the backdrop of the large lily leaves. The diagonal of the tree/bamboo has created another dimension. Well done!
