Nail Island has several names: Nail Island, James Bond Island (after the movie, "The Man with the Golden Gun", which was filmed here in the 1960's) & Ko Khao Tapu (Nail Mountain Island). The island is also sometimes referred to as 'Crab's Eye Island'. Sadly, this area was affected by the recent tidal wave or Tsunami.
'Phang Nga' is (roughly) pronounced as 'Pung Ah'. The near constant traffic of longtail boats shuttling tourists to & from the beach has stirred up the sediment in the shallow, muddy water. This area is more protected from the open sea. The whole area is composed of limestone karst, eroded into weird shapes by the sea & rain.

Lucky you had a full tide, it was mudflats and a heavy thunderstorm when I was here. I was hardly impressed with the main island from which you took this from....there was room only for about 50 people, but there was at least 500 on there and the lack of toilets had resulted in the tourists toileting all over the island :( . Worse still, the central section was taken up by cheap stalls of touts who hawked my every movement. It was actulally very distant from the peace and clamm you have represented here! Well done, a great image, mabe some more saturation but I like it!
