Photographer’s Note

Ao Nang is a central point of the coastal province of Krabi. The town consists of a main street, which is dominated by restaurants, pubs and shops. The main beach at Ao Nang is the main departure point for boats to a number of places, there are hundreds of longtail boats which offer access to other beaches on the mainland and on nearby islands.
The long-tail boat is a native to Southeast Asia. They use a common automotive engine as a readily available and maintainable powerplant. There is much variation among these boats, and in rural areas they may be improvised from bamboo and traditional materials— the sole defining characteristic is a secondhand car or truck engine (the source :wikipedia).

Hi Jiri,

A theme that keeps striking me on Trek Earth as of late is the interesting and thoughtful combination of ruin or desolation with vibrant color .. so full of life .. that theme to me is really striking here .. love what the f5.6 does to the sea .. love the water in the boat .. love the sense of vastness even in the vertical format .. very nice.
