At the Bung Ban Fai (The Rocket festival) in Thailand’s Laotian speaking north—eastern province the parade is about to lead off. Each village marches into the town bringing their home built rockets. These boys are the banner bearers for one of the villages. They will lead the way Every village has it own weave of cotton and silk (par peurn murng) special to itself. The women wear it as a sarong and the men as a ‘par sabai,’ which the tie around their waste or over their head. These villagers march into to town behind banners of their own special pattern.
