Photographer's Note

The 7th annual Chiang Rai Flower Festival was held from the 25th December to 3rd January 2012 at the Suan Mai Ngam Park in Chiang Rai, on the bank of Maekok River. This location is stunning, right on the bank of the river with everything well laid out and signposted. There are ample parking facilities which are also well organized.

The Chiang Rai Flower Festival is a riot of colour but perhaps the most unusual and surprising sight at a flower festival in Thailand, and what has become the trademark of the Chiang Rai Flower Festival, is a vast field of tulips in all their various colours.

We were impressed with the amzing selection of colours and variety of orchids too. If you're even up that way over the New Year period, make sure you check it out, its beautiful.

Hello Chris,
Tulips are not normally something I associate with Thailand. You have captured these lovely blooms beautifully under a fine ambient light. Lovely saturated tones and good use of depth of field.

Pour un instant j'ai eu l'impression d'être au festival des tulipes d'Ottawa. C'est vrai qu'en Thaïlande les saisons sont inversées. J'aime beaucoup ce fouillis de couleurs.

Hello Chris,

Tulips are wonderful flowers, I like tulips but the most beautiful are red.
Tulips are Dutch and Turkish roots, but perhaps in all country presently.
This is perfect of quality and colors.

REaly strange to see such a tulip photo from Thailand!! As you know the Netherlands is the country of tulips and i never seen then at THailand. BUt with your note i understand is a festival.
