Photographer's Note
Present day northern Thailand was once part of the self-ruling Lanna Kingdom, which flourished for 300 years under the Mengri Dynasty (1258-1558) whose power base covered Burma and Laos. Its founder, King Mengri, did not reside in Chiang Mai but in Chiang Rai, the then capital of Lanna. Chiang Mai did not become capital until 1345. Its original name Nopburi Sri Nakorn Ping Chiang Mai was later shortened to Chiang Mai.
Lanna has its own unique cuisine, culture and custom – completely different from Thailand’s other provinces. Northern Thai women are generally acknowledged as the most beautiful and friendliest in the country. Their smiles will leave a lasting memory of one's stay here. More often than not, visitors will be impressed by the Lannthai people’s charm and gentleness.

Hi,
Her innocent and intense smile attracts me to your photo. You stopped the time perfectly that I could feel the photo when I looked at it.
Thanks,
