Photographer's Note

Winter is dragging on interminable here in Switzerland. After all this grey and drab weather I was in need for some sun and went trough my photo library.
This bright picture was just what I needed. It shows the intricate roofs of a temple in the Riverside area of Thailands northern capital Chiang Mai. I remember that I was impressed by the many roofs there.

Hi Daniel,
I thought winters in Switzerland are cold and snowy but rather sunny? You have surprised me. I thought the grey seasons are just typical for the northern Europe.
In any case I can fully understand your need to see the sun at least in the photo.
Great choice here. Very interesting detail of architecture. Nice repeated motif of the roof.

As I sit here dreading the nearly two feet of snow that is due to fall Friday night, this shot is definitely a welcome reminder that warmer temperatures are around the corner... I'm fascinated by the geometry of these roofs, as the angle you've given us allows one to blend into the next and create an interesting pattern. Good brightness and color as well. Thanks!

Very interesting traditional architecture. I really like the contrast between red and saturated blue and the flower baskets in the foreground.
A bright pictures helps here in grey London too. :)

Hi Daniel,
Its amazing that something which in my country, has no thought to it other than function is in other places such a huge piece of ornamentaiton, and adds so much to the feeling and beauty of a building. The gold and brown on blue looks fantastic, and this has cheered my eyes up too, here in grey soggy Ireland.

Good choice with the vertical frame that seems to complement the arhcitectural shape of the rooftops. Beautiful vibrant colours and sharpness. The flowers in the FG are an added bonus. What a charming place.
