The spirits house, a photo from Chian Rai, North

Photographer's Note

This is just a detail of a spirits house, so common in Thailand, where they can be found everywhere: in the gardens, hotels, restaurants, markets, Buddhist temples... and in the people's yards. The Spirit worship comes from the ancient days and when Buddhism came to the country they were kept side by side.
The aim is to create a shelter for the spirits and to try to get their protection. The style and type of the house depends on the spirit the people want to invite and also on the money they can spend. Inside, the little houses usually there are little animals or humans figures(Thai dancers in this case) and outside we can see the offerings - flowers, candles, fruits... and incense.

So wonderful Thailand or Buddisim country image!
Great combination of sticks of incense in fornt and dancers dolls in the background. Vivid color touch is laso wonderful and tasetful indeed. Thnaks a lot and have a good weekend!

Ive spent quite a bit of time in Chiang Mai but have only passed through Chiang Rai. Good sharpness & use of a shallow dof. Excellent color saturation and nice repetition of the Thai dolls. The bg circles of confusion add interest. Perfect fg sharpness on the incense. Tfs!

Wonderful closeup from a Thai spirits house. The incense sticks are nicely framed by the statues of the godesses in the background, the colors are splendid and the light gorgeous. Really nicely framed and executed.

Je trouve intéressant l'endroit ou tu as choisi de faire la focale dans l'image pour laisser le reste dans le flou même si les poupées sont belles.

An intriguing image, and your beautiful depth of field has really brought the image to life. I could have sworn from the thumb nail that tho figurines were real people. Thanks also for the excellent note which puts perfect context to your shot.

Hello Ana,
Nice capture with nice bright colors.
On thumbnail it does not give this effect as the figurines at back are blurred, but once opened, the focus on this essence sticks gives the real message.

Brilliant detail of joss sticks, wonderful colours and a cracking capture by concentrating on main interest blurring the bg. Lovely presentation of interesting subject. The sticks are very real indeed. Really representative of Thailand, although we don't all worship the same God, its a good point, well made. Great shot, Congrats
